SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Kennith Joseph "Ken" Schuerr, who passed
4away on April 23, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ken Schuerr was born in Chicago to Lawrence and
6Shirley (Stewart) Schuerr on July 30, 1949; he graduated from
7McHenry High School in 1967; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Ken Schuerr started Schuerr Way Builders with his
9brother, and he loved sharing his knowledge of carpentry; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Ken Schuerr and his wife were founding members of
11the McHenry Evangelical Free Church, where he began the Awana
12Clubs and helped to organize the men's softball league; he also
13helped with many projects at his church and at Timber-Lee
14Christian Center; he volunteered his carpentry skills on a
15mission trip to Baja, Mexico, where he helped build an
16orphanage; he was always a go getter, whether it was on the
17football field or wrestling mat in high school or working as a
18builder; he was known for his wonderful sense of humor and
19optimism; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Ken Schuerr was preceded in death by his parents;
21his brother, William (Helen) Schuerr; and his daughter, Trisha

1Ann (Bjork) Schuerr; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Ken Schuerr is survived by his wife of 50 years,
3Barbara; his sons, Stephen Schuerr and Timothy Scott (Jenni)
4Schuerr; his siblings, Larry Schuerr, Mary Donnellan, Tom
5(Kassie) Schuerr, and Richard Schuerr; his grandchildren, Eric
6Vander Schaaf, Caleb Grams, Elliot, Anna, Dylan, Quinn, Hope,
7and Clarity Schuerr, and Abbey Bjork; and his many nieces and
8nephews; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that that we mourn the
11passing of Kennith Joseph "Ken" Schuerr and extend our sincere
12condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
13him; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Ken Schuerr as an expression of our
16deepest sympathy.
