SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Neil Winston, M.D., who passed away on
4March 4, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dr. Winston was born to Lloyd Sr. and Dorothy
6Winston Dillard on December 18, 1955; he graduated from St.
7Ignatius College Preparatory School in 1973, where he earned
8many awards and honors, including an honors diploma in science,
9the Pintozzi Ward, of which he was the first recipient, and the
10National Merit Scholarship Corporation Letter of Commendation;
11he was also the Vice President of the Black Organization of
12Students, the Secretary of the Monogram Club, and a student
13athletic trainer; he then attended the University of Chicago
14and thereafter Loyola University, where he graduated with a
15Bachelor of Science degree in 1977; he earned his Doctorate in
16Medicine from Rush University in 1981; he completed his
17residency, with a concentration in the emergency room, at
18Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine in 1984;
19and
 
20    WHEREAS, Dr. Winston was an emergency medicine specialist
21in practice for 34 years; he was a gentleman and a scholar; and
 
22    WHEREAS, Dr. Winston was preceded in death by his sister,

1Marian; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Dr. Winston is survived by his daughter, Kathleen
3Johnson; his grandson; and his brother, Lloyd Jr.; therefore,
4be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Neil Winston, M.D. and extend our sincere condolences to his
8family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Dr. Winston as an expression of our
12deepest sympathy.
