SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Walter John "Walt" Ciesla, formerly of Waukegan, who passed away on April 4, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Walt Ciesla was born in Chicago to Sophie and Frank Ciesla; and

WHEREAS, Walt Ciesla's career spanned over 60 years, working for the Chicago Tribune and managing the Larsen and Peterson Paint, Hobbies and Toy Store and Interstate Electric in Waukegan; and

WHEREAS, Walt Ciesla was a Lake County board member and a city council alderman for the City of Waukegan; he was a fourth-degree member of the Knights of Columbus and a Past Grand Knight for Waukegan Council #731; and

WHEREAS, Walt Ciesla retired to Sun City West, Arizona; he was a devoted parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes of Sun City West, where he served as an usher; he was a Past Faithful Navigator for K.C. Sun City Assembly #1673; he served as a board member for the Sun City West (SCW) Foundation and PORA - Sun City West, where he served as Chairman of the Bingo Committee; and

WHEREAS, Walt Ciesla enjoyed his weekly trips to the local casino; and

WHEREAS, Walt Ciesla was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Mazner; his parents; and eight siblings; and

WHEREAS, Walt Ciesla is survived by his children, Richard (Margaret) Ciesla and Janet (Harold) Cox; his siblings, Edward Ciesla and Lillian McCune; his grandchildren, Kendra (Byron), Carolyn, Katie (Eric), Lauren (Eric), and Bryan; and his great-grandchildren, Emma, Elle, Liam, Frances, Ethan, and Weston; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Walter John "Walt" Ciesla, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Walt Ciesla as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
