SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Bessie Tsausis of Gurnee, who passed away
4on March 5, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bessie Tsausis was born in Waukegan to Tony and
6Helen (Pilafas) Tsausis on December 18, 1933; she attended
7Central School, where the Waukegan Public Library presently
8stands, and graduated from Waukegan High School in 1951; she
9graduated from Lake Forest College in 1955; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Bessie Tsausis worked as a teacher for over 37
11years in the Waukegan school district, mostly at Thomas
12Jefferson Jr. H.S.; she retired in 1994; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Bessie Tsausis spent winters at her condo in
14Bradenton, Florida; she was active with the League of Women
15Voters, Friends of Waukegan Library, AFT/IFT, and the Retired
16Teachers Association; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Bessie Tsausis founded the Waukegan Chapter of the
18Delta Kappa Gamma Education Society in 1963; she was a founder
19of Sunday School and was a teacher and supervisor for 39 years;
20she was honored as "Mother of the Year" in 2005 by the Greek
21Community; and

1    WHEREAS, Bessie Tsausis is survived by her sister, Ethel,
2and her brother, John; therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
5Bessie Tsausis, and extend our sincere condolences to her
6family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
7further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of Bessie Tsausis as an expression of
10our deepest sympathy.
