SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Stephen J. "Steve" Werenski, who passed away on March 3, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Steve Werenski was born in Waukegan to Marjorie and Stephen Werenski on November 21, 1944; he served in the United States Army and was married to Opal Werenski for 54 years; and

WHEREAS, Steve Werenski worked for Hansen (later Mercer) in Lake Bluff for 30 years; and

WHEREAS, Steve Werenski loved fishing, bowling, golf, poker, and spending time with his family; he was known as "Dr. Bowl" and enjoyed participating in numerous fantasy sports leagues; and

WHEREAS, Steve Werenski was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, Steve Werenski is survived by his children, Kristina (Eric) and Heather (Tom); his grandchildren who knew him as "Papa", Athena, Tommy, and Lucas; and numerous others who called him uncle, cousin, friend, colleague, or second dad; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Stephen J. "Steve" Werenski, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Steve Werenski as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
