SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Jo Klawitter of Bloomington, who passed away on March 27, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Jo Klawitter was born in Normal to Carl E. and Anna (Karcher) Schultz; she graduated from Normal Community High School in 1940; she then attended Illinois State Normal University; she married Gus Klawitter in Bloomington on August 20, 1948; and

WHEREAS, Jo Klawitter worked as a legal secretary for Bob Fleming for over 50 years, and the Flemings thought of her as a member of their family; and

WHEREAS, Jo Klawitter was a member of Second Presbyterian Church of Bloomington and the American Business Women's Association; she also volunteered at the OSF St. Joseph Gift Shop for several years; she was a longtime fan of the ISU Redbirds and the Chicago Cubs; she enjoyed bowling and was on several leagues throughout the years; she and her husband enjoyed ballroom dancing; and

WHEREAS, Jo Klawitter was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gus; and her brothers, Carl and Bob Schultz; and

WHEREAS, Jo Klawitter is survived by her son, Ron (Linda) Klawitter; her granddaughter, Kiri Klawitter; her brother, Melvin (Kay) Schultz; and her many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Jo Klawitter and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jo Klawitter as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
