SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Kenneth "Gary" Kombrink of Bloomington, who passed away on March 25, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Gary Kombrink was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to Gilbert and Ruthe Kombrink on August 29, 1945; he attended high school in Belleville and the University of Missouri, where he was quarterback of the football team in 1966-67 and co-captain his senior year; after graduation in 1968, he served in the U.S. Army as a second lieutenant from 1968 to 1970; he graduated from the University of Missouri School of Law in 1973; he married Sandra K. Arnold on March 28, 1987; and

WHEREAS, Gary Kombrink began his legal career, which included a partnership, with the Dunn law firm in Bloomington and as a staff attorney for the University of Illinois, specializing in labor and employment law; he retired from the U of I in 2005, but later served as Director of Labor Relations at Illinois State University for several years while also maintaining a private law office in Bloomington; and

WHEREAS, Gary Kombrink retired for a second time and devoted all his time to his beloved wife and the cats they rescued; and

WHEREAS, Gary Kombrink is survived by his wife, Sandi; his mother, Ruthe; his sisters, Gayle (Gary) Libberton and Lisa (Jesse Camacho) Kombrink; his son, Ryan Kombrink; his daughter, Kyle (John) Roche; his grandchildren, Nora, Maddie, Lucy, Abby, and Matthias; his nephews, Rand and Gabe; and his niece, Shelle; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Kenneth "Gary" Kombrink, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Gary Kombrink as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
