SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Leonard J. "Ski" Strahanoski Sr. of Lockport, who passed away on March 11, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Leonard Strahanoski was born in Lockport to John and Rose (Drick) Strahanoski in 1928; he served in the United States Navy during World War II; and

WHEREAS, Leonard Strahanoski owned and operated Ski and Sons Builders, retiring in 2005; he previously worked for Frank Milne Developing and built many homes in the Kelvin Grove Subdivision; and

WHEREAS, Leonard Strahanoski served the City of Lockport for 50 years; he was 2nd Ward Alderman from 1965 to 1973 and was a part-time building and plumbing inspector for many years; and

WHEREAS, Leonard Strahanoski was a life member of Lockport VFW Post #5788; he was very generous and contributed to many charities; and

WHEREAS, Leonard Strahanoski was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Dorothy (Jim) Kinsley; and his sister-in-law, Charlene; and

WHEREAS, Leonard Strahanoski is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy (Eipers); his children, William (Debra), John (Julie), Kimberly (Lou) Ciuffini, Leonard Jr. (Renee), Beth (Doug) Hohisel, and Anthony (Mendi); 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; his brothers, Donald (Norma) and Ronald; his sisters, Ceil (Les) Moore and Virginia (Robert) Smolich; and numerous nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Leonard J. "Ski" Strahanoski Sr., and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Leonard Strahanoski as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
