SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of John Lee Benson, who passed away on February 24, 2018; and

WHEREAS, John Benson was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa on February 20, 1945 and moved to Naperville in 1973; he proudly served in U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War; and

WHEREAS, John Benson was a retired, self-employed accountant whose many clients became life-long friends; and

WHEREAS, John Benson was an active member of St. Raphael Catholic Church for over 40 years; and

WHEREAS, John Benson enjoyed playing golf, poker, hunting with his son, and traveling with his family; he loved life and lived it to the fullest; his generosity and compassion will be greatly missed; and

WHEREAS, John Benson is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Sandy; his son, Garth; his daughter-in-law, Sereen; his beloved granddaughter, Hadley; his sister, Vivian; his brother-in-law, Bill Kanzmeier; and his springer spaniel, Ivy; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of John Lee Benson, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of John Benson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
