SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Gerald "Gary" Maberry of Rosewood Heights, who passed away on January 7, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Gerald Maberry was born in Athensville to Russell "Red" and Rachel Caroline (Preston) Maberry on September 29, 1936; he graduated from Illinois State University with a degree in agriculture and received his master's degree in biology and chemistry from Murray State University; he married Minnie Theresa "Terry" Peart in Bloomington on September 21, 1957; and

WHEREAS, Gerald Maberry served 33 years as an educator in the Roxana School District; he had a love of athletics and was a devoted coach and mentor; and

WHEREAS, Gerald Maberry enjoyed gardening and cared for over 300 tomato plants each year; he was an avid hunter and upland game enthusiast; he and his wife hosted afternoon pool parties at their home and spent 13 years on Little Gaspirilla Island in Florida; and

WHEREAS, Gerald Maberry was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Theresa "Terry" Peart, and his parents; and

WHEREAS, Gerald Maberry is survived by his sons, Mark (Sherry) Maberry, Matt (Kristin) Maberry, and Scott (Amy) Maberry; his grandchildren, Nick, Morgan, Jordan, Mackenzie, Sydnee, Ella, and Sean; and his great-grandchildren, Blake, Jason, Hailey, and Chloe; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Gerald "Gary" Maberry, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Gerald Maberry as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
