SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Paul Andrea Silvio of Woodstock, who
4passed away on January 3, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Paul Silvio was born in Chicago to Joseph and
6Theresa (Muscarello) Silvio on August 5, 1934; he served in the
7United States Marines from 1956 to 1958; he married Marcia D.
8Janis at St. Gerald's Catholic Church in Oak Lawn on June 24,
91961; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Paul Silvio worked in the research and development
11division of Kraft Foods for over 35 years; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Paul Silvio had both scientific and musical
13talents and often played the organ or sang Italian songs at the
14kitchen table after coming home from work; he enjoyed being
15active and was a faithful fan of Chicago sports teams; he was
16an avid train enthusiast and built HO model trainscapes,
17including a winter scene he displayed each Christmas; and
 
18    WHEREAS, In the mid 1980s, Paul was diagnosed with Primary
19Lateral Sclerosis (PLS); shortly after his diagnosis, he began
20documenting his philosophies, perspectives on several topics,
21and stories from his life for his grandchildren; and

1    WHEREAS, Paul Silvio is survived by his wife, Marcia; his
2children, Paulette (Phil) Gregorcy, Annette (Dennis) Bechtold,
3and Christina (Mark) Haggerty; his grandchildren, Casey
4Bechtold, Lauren Gregorcy, John Paul Gregorcy, Danielle and
5Brandon Deraney, Austin Gregorcy, Brooke Gregorcy, Sophia
6Haggerty, Max Haggerty, and Devin Haggerty; his siblings, Andre
7Silvio and Linda (Ted) Frega; his sister-in-law, Kay Janis; and
8his nieces, nephews, and other dear relatives and friends;
9therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Paul Andrea Silvio and extend our sincere condolences to his
13family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Paul Silvio as an expression of our
17deepest sympathy.
