SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Joseph John "Joe" Misurelli of Bull
4Valley, who passed away on December 23, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Joe Misurelli was born in Chicago to Alexander and
6Barbara (Kreuser) Misurelli on October 10, 1952; he graduated
7from St. Viator High School in Arlington Heights and from
8Marquette University in Milwaukee; he earned his master's
9degree in public administration from Northern Illinois
10University and married Edie Bock at St. Anne Catholic Church in
11Barrington on July 9, 1977; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Joe Misurelli served an internship in management
13with Elk Grove Village and then was hired as the Assistant City
14Manager for Crystal Lake for 3 1/2 years; he was then appointed
15as City Manager for Crystal Lake with a combined service of
16over 26 years; his proudest accomplishment was consolidating
17all Crystal Lake city buildings into the new city hall without
18any tax increases to Crystal Lake residents; he then worked for
19Genoa as city manager and as a consultant for a combined
20service of 15 years; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Joe Misurelli served on the Memorial Medical
22Center Board of Directors from 1991 to 1997; he joined the

1Centegra Hospital Board of Governors from 1997 to 2006, where
2he also served as Chairman of the Finance Committee and as a
3member of the Planning Committee; he served on the NIMED Board
4and the Centegra Management Service Board; he was a member of
5the Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce, the City Managers
6Association, and the Sister City Committee for Holzgerlingen,
7Germany; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Joe Misurelli was a devoted husband and loving
9dad; he was a diehard Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed classic
10cars, fishing, Blues music, and a good cigar; he was an avid
11reader of European history and had a vast home library; he had
12a great love for genealogy research and he devoted many years
13of extensive research on family history, dating back to the
141600s, ultimately discovering new relatives; he had an unique
15sense of humor and loved telling""Dad Jokes"; he could fix
16almost anything; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Joe Misurelli was preceded in death by his
18parents; his brother, Thomas; his nephew, Alex; and his
19cousins, Dan, Jim, Dick, and Mary Beth; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Joe Misurelli is survived by his wife of 40 years,
21Edie; his sons, Joseph (Sarah) and Jason; his brother, Jeffrey
22Misurelli; his niece, Dana (Brian) Marino; his great-niece,
23Luciana; his Misurelli cousins, Patty, Gail, Bill, Steve,

1Michele, Christi, Lisa, and many new-found cousins in Kenosha,
2Wisconsin; and his Kreuser cousins, MaryAnn, Ruth, Rory, Carol,
3and numerous others; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6Joseph John "Joe" Misurelli, and extend our sincere condolences
7to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
8it further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Joe Misurelli as an expression of
11our deepest sympathy.
