SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Lillian E. Oberwise Tesch, who passed
4away on December 27, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Lillian Tesch was born in Marengo to Luke J.
6Oberwise Sr. and Ruth M. Fleming Oberwise on May 10, 1922; she
7graduated from Marengo High School and enrolled in the teacher
8education program at Northern Illinois University; she married
9Lyle F. Tesch on June 4, 1946; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Lillian Tesch began her teaching career at the Oak
11Grove and Stone's Corner Schools, which were one-room schools
12with grades first through eighth; she then taught second grade
13at Capron Grade school for 31 years; she was a dedicated
14teacher who encouraged a love of learning in her students; in
15retirement, she enjoyed helping struggling students find
16success; she also enjoyed helping her friends at their catering
17business; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Lillian Tesch was a dedicated and devoted wife,
19mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt; she loved
20her family, especially traveling with her daughter and her
21family; one of the highlights of her family life was when she
22and Lyle served as honorary parents at her nephew's wedding;

2    WHEREAS, Lillian Tesch was preceded in death by her
3husband, Lyle; her parents; her brother, Luke Oberwise Jr.; and
4her two cousins who were raised by her parents, Leona Baker
5Green and Bernard Baker; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Lillian Tesch is survived by her daughter, Midge;
7her grandchildren, Jessica, Gina (Dorian), and Evan
8(Kourtney); her great-grandson, Dylan; her nieces, Bonnie
9Tesch Potyk, Connie Tesch Smith, and Michelle Oberwise Lacock
10and their families; and her nephews, Tom Lordan and Mike
11Oberwise and their families; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Lillian E. Oberwise Tesch and extend our sincere condolences to
15her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
16further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Lillian Tesch as an expression of
19our deepest sympathy.
