SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Richard Duane "Dick" Schroeder who passed away on January 2, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Dick Schroeder was born in Harvard to LaVerne and Marjorie Spencer Schroeder on August 8, 1938; he served in the United States Army from 1959 until 1961; he was blessed to have two wonderful women in his life; his first wife, Sandra, preceded him in death; he then married Cathy; and

WHEREAS, Dick Schroeder was a barber for 58 years, and he worked in Woodstock for 55 of those years; and

WHEREAS, Dick Schroeder was a member of the Woodstock American Legion Post #412 and served as Commander and Treasurer; he was a staple in the community and could always be counted on for a smile and a good laugh; he was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather; he was respected by many; and

WHEREAS, Dick Schroeder was preceded in death by his first wife, Sandra; his parents; his niece, Vicky Schroeder; his sister-in-law, Jackie Ihrke; and his brother-in-law, Bill Blaksley; and

WHEREAS, Dick Schroeder is survived by his second wife, Cathy; his children, Deanna (Tim) Petersen and Tom (Michele) Schroeder; his grandchildren, Emily Petersen, Michael Petersen, Alexandra Schroeder, Chloe Schroeder, Hannah Blaksley, and Cade Blaksley; his brother, Ramon Schroeder; his brothers-in-law, George "Skip" (Julee) Blaksley and DeVere "Bud" Ihrke; his nieces and nephews, Donna Schroeder, Carol O'Dell, Paula Camann, Scott Ihrke, Greg Ihrke, Jeff (Jennifer) Blaksley, Chris Blaksley, Tausha Blaksley and Mike Blaksley; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Richard Duane "Dick" Schroeder and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dick Schroeder as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
