SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Charles Robert "Charlie" Boyett of
4Carlinville, who passed away on January 8,2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Charlie Boyett was born in Harrisburg to Robert
6Charles and Virginia (Ashe) Boyett on March 20, 1946; he
7graduated from Lincolnwood High School in 1964 and Ranken
8Technical College; he married Mary "Pat" Portwood in
9Springfield on November 22, 1969; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Charlie Boyett served in the United States Army
11during the Vietnam War, where he received the Air Medal for
12distinguishing himself by meritorious achievement while
13participating in sustained aerial flight in support of combat
14ground forces during the period of May 1967 to October 1967; he
15participated in over 25 aerial missions over hostile territory
16during that time; he was also awarded the Bronze Star; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Charlie Boyett worked for Monterey Coal Mine in
18Carlinville and Freeman Crown II Coal Mine in Virden; he
19retired from Freeman Crown III Coal Mine in Girard; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Charlie Boyett was a long time member of Saints
21Mary and Joseph Catholic Church in Carlinville; he enjoyed

1mowing, gardening, riding 4-wheelers, fishing, and hot rods;
2and
 
3    WHEREAS, Charlie Boyett was preceded in death by his
4parents; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Charlie Boyett is survived by his wife, Mary
6"Pat"; his sons, Christopher Robert (Lyn) Boyett and Casey
7Louis (Sarah) Boyett; his daughter, Carrie Elizabeth (Ryan)
8Klotz; his grandchildren, Isabel and Vivian Klotz, Clara and
9Lucas Boyett, and Lucy and Dillon Boyett; his sisters, Shirley
10Martin and Linda (Larry) Burnet; and several nieces and
11nephews; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Charles Robert "Charlie" Boyett, and extend our sincere
15condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
16him; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Charlie Boyett as an expression of
19our deepest sympathy.
