SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Madelyn Mae Duel, who passed away on
4December 2, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Madelyn Duel was born in Kenosha, Wisconsin to
6Gustav and Selma (Treptau) Kressin on May 6, 1928; she was
7raised and educated in Kenosha and received her bachelor's
8degree in accounting from the University of
9Wisconsin-Parkside; she married Ward C. Duel at Friedens
10Lutheran Church in Kenosha, Wisconsin on October 21, 1950; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Madelyn Duel and her husband lived in Platteville,
12Wisconsin and then Kenosha, before residing in Ingleside and
13Pistakee Highlands for many years; she was a homemaker and
14mother; in her later years, she went back to work in the
15accounting field, working for Curran Contracting for
16approximately eight years and assisting many small businesses
17with their accounting needs; she also worked as a teacher's
18assistant with elementary school children in McHenry for a few
19years; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Madelyn Duel was a member of Peace Lutheran Church
21in Wilmot, Wisconsin; she was a former member of Good Shepherd
22Lutheran Church in Lake Villa and Bethany Lutheran Church in

1Kenosha; she enjoyed working on her computer and loved spending
2time with her family; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Madelyn Duel was preceded in death by her parents;
4her husband, Ward; her brother, Col. Harold Kressin U.S. Army
5Ret.; and her sister, Gladys; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Madelyn Duel is survived by her son, W. Rick
7(Karen) Duel; her daughters, Christine (Richard) Burke,
8Roxanne (Nico) Derni, and Betsy (Bert) Fredericksen; her
9grandchildren, Yolande (Jana) Derni, Ryan (Ryan) Derni, Thomas
10(Ellie) Burke, and Michelle (Steven) Blankenship; her
11great-grandchildren, Sydney, Emmit, Emily, and Anne; and her
12brother, Gus Kressin; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Madelyn Mae Duel, and extend our sincere condolences to her
16family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Madelyn Duel as an expression of our
20deepest sympathy.
