SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Henry "Hank" V. Hemmingsen of Union, who passed away on December 2, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Hank Hemmingsen was born in Glen Ellyn to Niels and Magda (Jessen) Hemmingsen on May 14, 1927; he graduated from Marengo Community High School; he married Marion E. Gahl in Union on October 18, 1947; and

WHEREAS, Hank Hemmingsen was a proud dairy farmer for 50 years; he served on the local elementary school board of education, was a trustee for the fire department, and Farm Bureau board member; and

WHEREAS, Hank Hemmingsen was a member of the Union St. John's United Church of Christ; he was inducted into the Marengo Community High School Hall of Fame in 2013; the Farm Bureau honored him by naming his farm's local rural road after his family's namesake; he was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers; and

WHEREAS, Hank Hemmingsen was preceded in death by his parents; his six brothers; and a grandson; and

WHEREAS, Hank Hemmingsen is survived by his wife of 70 years, Marion; his children, Douglas (Linda) Hemmingsen, Brenda (Dale) Moehling, Adele (Steven) Weskerna, and Richard (Sharon) Hemmingsen; his twelve grandchildren; and his twenty great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Henry "Hank" V. Hemmingsen and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Hank Hemmingsen as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
