SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

815 ILCS 306/17 new

Amends the Automotive Repair Act. Requires an automotive repair facility to post charges for labor, storage, parts, and diagnosis.

AN ACT concerning business.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Automotive Repair Act is amended by adding Section 17 as follows:

(815 ILCS 306/17 new)

Sec. 17. Disclosure; posting of prices. An automotive repair facility shall post in each area of its premises where customers place work orders the following information:

(1) the hourly charge for labor;

(2) the charges and conditions under which the facility may impose charges for storage;

(3) prices for commonly used repair parts; and

(4) the charge for diagnosis of malfunctions.
