HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Robert F. Martwick on his 50 years of community service and his role as Norwood Park Township Democratic Committeeman; and

WHEREAS, Robert Martwick was born in Chicago on August 20, 1937; he attended St. Philips High School, the University of Detroit, and Loyola University; he graduated from DePaul College of Law; and

WHEREAS, Robert Martwick worked as an adjunct professor and tutored former Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley and former Illinois State Senator Howard Carroll; he also served as an Assistant State's Attorney in the Cook County State's Attorney's Office, where he and his trial partner tried 59 felony jury trials; he was a candidate for Illinois State Representative in 1968; in 1973, he founded the Law Offices of Finkel & Martwick with his partner, Norman Finkel, with whom he continues to practice with today; he also served as the Norridge Village prosecutor; and

WHEREAS, Robert Martwick was selected to serve as Township Committeeman by the Norwood Park Township Democratic Organization on July 30, 1969, a position he will hold through the upcoming election; he was a delegate to the 1976 Democratic National Convention; he managed the campaigns for his brother, Richard J. Martwick, who served as Cook County Regional Superintendent of Education from 1970 until 1994; and

WHEREAS, Robert Martwick is active in many organizations, including the Chicago Advocates Society, the National Advocates Society, the Chicago Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, the Illinois Supreme Court's Committee on Character and Fitness, and the Ridgewood High School Board; he was President of the National Advocates Society from 1987 until 1988 and President of the Ridgemoor Country Club from 1993 until 1996; he was Secretary of the Cook County Democratic Party from 1996 until 2018; and

WHEREAS, Robert Martwick has received many awards and recognitions for his service; he was the National Advocates Society's Man of the Year in 1989; he also received the Copernican Award for his service to the Polish American Community; in 2016, the Cook County Democratic Party recognized him as an Outstanding Leadership Honoree; and

WHEREAS, Robert Martwick has been married to his wife, Gloria, for 57 years; together, they have five children, Candace, Cathy, Rob, Kristen, and Holly; they are grandparents to 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Robert F. Martwick on his 50 years of community service and we recognize his role as Norwood Park Township Democratic Committeeman; we wish him the best in his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Robert Martwick as an expression of our esteem and respect.
