HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Allen
4Frederick Bennett, who passed away on Wednesday, November 29,
52017; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Allen Frederick Bennett was born to the late Leo
7and Donna Bennett on August 29, 1943 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois;
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, Allen Frederick Bennett earned a bachelor's
10degree in business commerce from the University of Illinois in
111965; he graduated law school from the University of Tennessee
12and received his Juris Doctor in 1967; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Allen Frederick Bennett began his distinguished
14public service career in 1968, when he was elected State's
15Attorney of Moultrie County, Illinois; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Allen Frederick Bennett, shortly thereafter,
17served as the Public Defender of Macon County before his
18election as State Representative from Decatur in 1976; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Allen Frederick Bennett also served as an
20Assistant Attorney general and later as a lobbyist for the

1Fraternal Order of Police, Trooper's Lodge #41 and Illinois
2Fraternal Order of Police, State Lodge; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Allen Frederick Bennett served the people of
4Illinois by being one of the few to serve in all three branches
5of Illinois Government: The General Assembly, Executive, and
6Judiciary; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Allen Frederick Bennet practiced law privately in
8Sullivan, Decatur, Springfield, and Shelbyville before being
9elected Resident Circuit Judge of Shelby County, 4th Judicial
10Circuit in 2012; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Allen Frederick Bennett was preceded in death by
12his parents, Leo and Donna Bennett; and his sister, Suzie
13Rudin; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Allen Frederick Bennett is survived by his wife,
15Tina Bennett; his children, Tammera McClendon, Allen Bennett
16II, and Trina Bedlington; his sisters, Katie (Byron) Cartwright
17and Sally (James) Hooten; his eight grandchildren; his four
18great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews;
19therefore, be it
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
21HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we

1mourn the passing of Allen Frederick Bennett and extend our
2sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
3and loved him; and be it further
 
4    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5presented to the family of Allen Frederick Bennett as an
6expression of our deepest sympathy and regards.
