HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the East St. Louis Senior High School boys track and field team, the Flyers, on winning the 2016 Illinois High School Association Class 3A Track and Field State Championship; and

WHEREAS, On May 28, 2016, at O'Brien Stadium in Charleston, the Flyers were summoned like soldiers for battle; and

WHEREAS, The Flyers fought the good fight and never lost faith in themselves; and

WHEREAS, The Flyers believed, lived by, and competed all season long by the motto, "Failure is not an option!"; and

WHEREAS, In sports, many are called but few are chosen, and the Flyers were chosen to be champions; and

WHEREAS, This championship ended an eight year drought in East St. Louis sports history, reestablishing and proving why the city is, and will forever be, "The City of Champions"; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the East St. Louis Senior High School boys track and field team, the Flyers, on winning the 2016 Illinois High School Association Class 3A Track and Field State Championship; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Flyers as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
