HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Marnya J. Williamson, who passed away on December 12, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Marnya Williamson was born in the Lilydale neighborhood of Chicago to Frank and Delores Brown on December 24, 1953; she moved with her family to Harvey, and they finally settled in Richton Park; she committed to her faith at an early age and was christened at St. James A.M.E. Chicago; she married Cornell Williamson on August 30, 1975; she graduated from Capri Beauty School in 1991; and

WHEREAS, Marnya Williamson served the residents at the State of Illinois DHS Howe Developmental, Tinley Park Mental Health, and Elizabeth Ludeman Centers from July 1985 until her retirement in August 2015; and

WHEREAS, Marnya Williamson was a member of New Salem Baptist Church of Chicago; she volunteered at Faith Movers Church in University Park, at the food pantry, and at Richton Park Library, where she helped with the cooking class; she enjoyed cooking, and her chicken dish flavored with honey and pineapple was a family favorite; she loved gold jewelry, elephant statues, and her grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Marnya Williamson was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Jesse Jr. and Dino; and

WHEREAS, Marnya Williamson is survived by her children, Antwyone (Candice), Connie, and Cornell; her grandchildren, Dontae, Ernest, Damonica, Antwyone Jr., Andrew, Tremaine, Heaven, Mekiya, Kyron, Londyn, and Lauryn; her sisters, Shirelle, Ameila, Gracie, and Barbara; her brother, Sean; her Uncle, Mal; her nieces, Antonette, Lamelia, and Cheryl; her nephews, Peter, Alonzo, Gianni, and Vaughn; her grandnieces and grandnephews; her first and second cousins; and her many other family members and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Marnya J. Williamson and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Marnya Williamson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
