HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Charles
4E. "Charlie" Tweedy of Wood River, who passed away on September
526, 2018; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Charlie Tweedy was born in Wood River to John and
7Vira "Jackie" (Bradshaw) Tweedy on September 8, 1932; he
8attended East Alton-Wood River High School, where he was a
92-time state qualifier in the half-mile; he served in the U.S.
10Navy during the Korean War aboard the USS Juneau and married
11Carol R. Hanks in Mississippi on September 24, 1956; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Charlie Tweedy co-owned Charlie's Drive-In in
13Wood River; previously, he worked for Standard Oil, as a route
14driver for Taystee Bread and Mrs. Allison's Cookies, and, after
15selling the Drive-In, as an attendant for Marks Mortuary; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Charlie Tweedy was an avid fan of the St. Louis
17Cardinals; he also enjoyed following NCAA basketball,
18especially the Bobby Knight-coached Indiana Hoosiers; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Charlie Tweedy was preceded in death by his
20parents; and

1    WHEREAS, Charlie Tweedy is survived by his wife, Carol; his
2sons, Scott (LeeAnn) and Tim (Cynthia) Tweedy; his daughters,
3Rhonda Tweedy (Clyde) Cachero and Teresa "Bear" Tweedy; his
4grandchildren, Amie Meyer, Lauren (Brad) Read, Ashley Tweedy,
5Brooke Tweedy, and Addison Tweedy; his great-granddaughter,
6Grace Read; and his sister, Dolores Kessler; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
8HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
9mourn the passing of Charles E. "Charlie" Tweedy and extend our
10sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
11and loved him; and be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Charlie Tweedy as an expression of
14our deepest sympathy.
