HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Ronald and Doris Jordan on
4the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary on January 18,
52019; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Ronald Jordan met Doris Reed at Crane Junior
7College, now Malcolm X College, in February 1967; they had
8their first date, lunch at Walgreen's Cafe before Ronald's
9first day of work at the United States Postal Service, on March
1025, 1967; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Ronald Jordan and Doris Reed were married at St.
12Francis Cabrini Church on the West Side of Chicago on January
1318, 1969; after their wedding, they continued to attend
14college; Ronald earned a bachelor of arts degree from Chicago
15State University; Doris earned both a bachelor of arts and a
16master's degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Ronald and Doris Jordan welcomed their first
18child, Angela, in 1971; their second child, Veronica, was born
19in 1976; they purchased a house in Beverly in 1976, where they
20still live, and then joined Christ the King Catholic Church;

1    WHEREAS, Ronald Jordan worked for the United States Postal
2Service for 26 years; he retired as a supervisor in 2003; Doris
3Jordan worked for the Chicago Board of Education for 40 years
4and retired as a principal in 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, In addition to their two daughters and a
6son-in-law, Ronald and Doris Jordan have five grandchildren;
7therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
9HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
10congratulate Ronald and Doris Jordan on the occasion of their
1150th wedding anniversary, and we wish them many more happy
12years; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to Ronald and Doris Jordan as an expression of our
15esteem and respect.
