HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Ronald and Doris Jordan on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary on January 18, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Jordan met Doris Reed at Crane Junior College, now Malcolm X College, in February 1967; they had their first date, lunch at Walgreen's Cafe before Ronald's first day of work at the United States Postal Service, on March 25, 1967; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Jordan and Doris Reed were married at St. Francis Cabrini Church on the West Side of Chicago on January 18, 1969; after their wedding, they continued to attend college; Ronald earned a bachelor of arts degree from Chicago State University; Doris earned both a bachelor of arts and a master's degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Ronald and Doris Jordan welcomed their first child, Angela, in 1971; their second child, Veronica, was born in 1976; they purchased a house in Beverly in 1976, where they still live, and then joined Christ the King Catholic Church; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Jordan worked for the United States Postal Service for 26 years; he retired as a supervisor in 2003; Doris Jordan worked for the Chicago Board of Education for 40 years and retired as a principal in 2013; and

WHEREAS, In addition to their two daughters and a son-in-law, Ronald and Doris Jordan have five grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Ronald and Doris Jordan on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary, and we wish them many more happy years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Ronald and Doris Jordan as an expression of our esteem and respect.
