HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Margaret
4Dunson, who passed away on November 7, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Margaret Dunson was born in Brookhaven,
6Mississippi on July 8, 1933; she migrated to Chicago in 1946
7and was a resident of the Near West Side; she joined Union Hill
8Missionary Baptist Church and graduated from Manley High School
9in 1951; she married Isaac Dunson in 1951; they moved to
10Lawndale, and she joined Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Margaret Dunson worked at Sears, Roebuck and
12Company; she also worked as the parish secretary at Our Lady of
13Perpetual Help; later, after earning a certificate in early
14childhood education from the City Colleges of Chicago, she was
15instrumental in establishing a day care center that provided
16pre-education care for children in her parish; in 1978, she
17relocated to the North Austin community and became active at
18St. Peter Canisius, where she worshiped until it closed in
192012; she also served the North Austin community through an
20organization based out of St. Peter's; she retired from public
21service in 2012; and
 
22    WHEREAS, Margaret Dunson was a member of the 1500 North

1Lotus Block Club; during retirement, she enjoyed her favorite
2hobbies, cooking and gardening, and spending time with her
3friends; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Margaret Dunson was preceded in death by her
5husband, Isaac; and her son, Morris; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Margaret Dunson is survived by her sons, Ronnie
7Sr. and Frederick; her five grandsons; and her six
8great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
10HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
11mourn the passing of Margaret Dunson and extend our sincere
12condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
13her; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Margaret Dunson as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
