HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Billy
4Oscar Stewart, who passed away on September 20, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Oscar Stewart was born in Meridian, Mississippi to
6James and Walterine Stewart on September 24, 1942; he attended
7Chicago elementary schools and graduated from Tilden Tech High
8School in Chicago; he served in the U.S. Air Force for four
9years and was stationed in Italy and Alaska; he worked for two
10years in Alaska as a fireman and returned to Chicago in 1965;
11and
 
12    WHEREAS, Oscar Stewart married Essie Mae, his next door
13neighbor, on January 24, 1967, and two days later, the biggest
14snow storm ever hit Chicago; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Oscar Stewart enjoyed reading and took a book
16everywhere; he also enjoyed debating, loved a challenge, and
17was always ready for a discussion anywhere and with anyone; his
18biggest enjoyment was spending time with his family, especially
19at the movies; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Oscar Stewart was preceded in death by his parents
21and his brother, James Ray Stewart; and

1    WHEREAS, Oscar Stewart is survived his wife, Essie; his
2daughters, Ersa Veloria and Billie Oretha Stewart-Tigue
3(Antawn); his son, Major James (Denise); his grandsons, Matthew
4Oscar, Marcus Antawn, and Major James II; his sister, Matterine
5Ruffin; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Ersa and Elbert
6Mack; his brother-in law, Dan Williams; his sister-in law,
7Deseree Williams; and numerous relatives, cousins, nephews,
8nieces, and friends; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
10HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
11mourn the passing of Billy Oscar Stewart and extend our sincere
12condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
13him; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Oscar Stewart as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
