HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the Good Shepherd Hospital in Shelbyville on 100 years of service to Shelby County and the surrounding area; and

WHEREAS, The hospital was established in Shelbyville in 1916 after a campaign by Senator George D. Chaffee to bring health care services to the area; after fundraising by residents and organizations, work on the hospital building began in 1917, and the Shelby Memorial Hospital was dedicated on July 4, 1918; and

WHEREAS, Shelby Memorial Hospital joined the Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS) and was renamed Good Shepherd Hospital in January of 2017, which allowed the hospital to combine small-town, friendly care with the expansive resources and capabilities of a larger hospital system; and

WHEREAS, As Shelby County's only hospital, the 30-bed HSHS Good Shepherd Hospital provides vital healthcare services including emergency care, imaging services, rehabilitative therapy, and a wide variety of outpatient services to the residents of Shelbyville, Shelby County, and beyond; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate HSHS Good Shepherd Hospital in Shelbyville on 100 years of quality care to the residents of Shelby County, and we wish them many more successful years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the President and CEO of HSHS Good Shepherd Hospital, Aaron Puchbauer, as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
