HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to recognize milestone events in
4the lives of Illinois citizens; and
 
5    WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Mr. Brad
6Halverson is retiring from Caterpillar after 30 years; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Brad Halverson started as a staff accountant in
81988; he then moved overseas and became the controller in
9Europe, where he was responsible for Caterpillar's financial
10reporting in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Upon returning to Central Illinois in 1996, Brad
12Halverson became the General Accounting and Finance Systems
13Manager; in 2010, he became the Vice President of the Finance
14Services Division, and for the past five years, he has been the
15Group President and CFO of Corporate Services and Financial
16Products at Caterpillar; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Brad Halverson graduated with an associate's
18degree in accounting from Illinois Central College in 1980; in
191982, he graduated from the University of Illinois with a
20bachelor's degree in accounting; he furthered his education and
21earned an Executive M.B.A. from the University of Illinois in

11996 and completed Caterpillar's Advanced Management Program
2in 1996 and 2001; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Brad Halverson has shown that involvement in the
4Peoria area is important to him; he is chairman of the steering
5committee for the IHSA Boys Basketball State Finals, past
6chairman of the board and current board member for Easter Seals
7of Central Illinois and past member of the OSF Saint Francis
8Medical Center Community Advisory Board; he has further served
9his community by offering his leadership and expertise as
10treasurer for the Easter Seals Foundation Board of Trustees;
11beyond the local community, he is also a member of the Sysco
12Board of Directors, a board member of the U.S. Chamber of
13Commerce, and a member of the American Institute of Certified
14Public Accountants; he was previously a member of the
15University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign College of Business
16Dean's Council; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Brad Halverson grew up in Delavan and learned his
18work ethic from his parents; he was first introduced to
19Caterpillar through his father, who worked third shift for
20Caterpillar in East Peoria; his father worked two jobs, and his
21mother took care of Brad and his five siblings; and
 
22    WHEREAS, Brad Halverson married his high school
23sweetheart, Mindy, in 1980; they have three children, Tyler

1(Que) Halverson, Lauren (Michael) Hasten, and Megan (Rob)
2Arseniadis; he also has four grandchildren, Allie Halverson,
3Mason Halverson, Brynley Halverson, and Connor Arseniadis; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Brad Halverson enjoys spending time with his
5family and friends, as well as golfing and playing basketball;
6therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
8HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
9recognize Brad Halverson on his outstanding career with
10Caterpillar and his energetic volunteer service to his
11community; we wish him every success in his retirement; and be
12it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to Brad Halverson as an expression of our esteem and
15respect.
