HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Sheriff Robert Crow on his
429 years with the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.)
5Program; and
 
6    WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. is a substance abuse prevention
7education program that was founded in Los Angeles in 1983; the
8Program offers a series of police officer-led classroom lessons
9for children from kindergarten though 12th grade on how to
10resist peer pressure and live productive drug-free and
11violence-free lives; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Sheriff Crow was hired as a patrol officer for the
13City of McLeansboro in 1988; he became the Chief of Police in
14October of that same year; In December 2014, he became Sheriff
15of Hamilton County; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Sheriff Crow attended D.A.R.E. training in 1989;
17upon completion of training, he returned to Hamilton County and
18began teaching ten-week sessions to the sixth graders at East
19Side Grade School, and then in 2015 at Dahlgren Grade School as
20well; he teaches for an hour each time on a variety of topics,
21including resisting drugs, bullying, and abuse of
22over-the-counter medication; and

1    WHEREAS, Sheriff Crow was named Co-Illinois D.A.R.E.
2Officer of the Year twice, an honor he shared with a colleague;
3In May 2018, he will participate in the 30th D.A.R.E.
4graduation; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Sheriff Crow is a veteran of the United States
6Army, where he was a military police officer; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
8HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
9congratulate Sheriff Robert Crow on his many years with the
10D.A.R.E. Program, and we recognize his commitment to providing
11the youth of Hamilton County with the knowledge and tools they
12need to resist drugs, alcohol, and other high-risk behaviors;
13and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to Sheriff Crow as an expression of our esteem and
16respect.
