SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

50 ILCS 145/2

Amends the Local Government Officer Compensation Act. In provisions regarding compensation of elected officers of school districts and units of local government, defines "compensation" as wages, salaries, commissions, and any other form of remuneration. Effective immediately.

A BILL FOR

AN ACT concerning local government.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Local Government Officer Compensation Act is amended by changing Section 2 as follows:

(50 ILCS 145/2)

Sec. 2. Time of fixing compensation. Notwithstanding any other law to the contrary, the compensation of elected officers of school districts and units of local government, including home rule units, which compensation is to be fixed by that school district or unit of local government, shall be fixed at least 180 days before the beginning of the terms of the officers whose compensation is to be fixed. As used in this Section, "compensation" means wages, salaries, commissions, and any other form of remuneration.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.
