SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
720 ILCS 646/100

    Amends the Methamphetamine Control and Community Protection Act. Provides that any person convicted of a second or subsequent offense under the Act shall (rather than may) be sentenced to imprisonment for a term up to twice the maximum term otherwise authorized and fined an amount up to twice that otherwise authorized.

1    AN ACT concerning criminal law.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Methamphetamine Control and Community
5Protection Act is amended by changing Section 100 as follows:
 
6    (720 ILCS 646/100)
7    Sec. 100. Second or subsequent offenses.
8    (a) Any person convicted of a second or subsequent offense
9under this Act shall may be sentenced to imprisonment for a
10term up to twice the maximum term otherwise authorized and ,
11fined an amount up to twice that otherwise authorized, or both.
12    (b) Any penalty imposed for any violation of this Act is in
13addition to, and not in lieu of, any civil or administrative
14penalty or sanction otherwise authorized by this Act or any
15other law.
