1    AN ACT concerning elections.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Election Code is amended by changing
5Sections 4-8.5, 5-8.5, and 6-35.5 as follows:
 
6    (10 ILCS 5/4-8.5)
7    Sec. 4-8.5. Deputy registrar eligibility;
8pre-registration. Unless otherwise provided by law, an
9individual who that is 17 years old or older who is registered
10to vote in this State shall be eligible to serve as a deputy
11registrar. Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the
12contrary, an individual who is 16 or 17 years of age may
13register to vote, and shall be deemed competent to execute and
14attest to any voter registration forms, with the registration
15held in abeyance by the appropriate election authority until
16such time as that individual attains the required age to vote.

20    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
21becoming law.
