SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
625 ILCS 35/4.01 new

    Amends the Cycle Rider Safety Training Act. Provides that the Department of Transportation shall by rule provide for the certification of an entity that offers private motorcycle skills education programs to include courses in the programs offered by the entity. Provides that the Department shall conduct periodic audits of an entity offering the courses to ensure that the courses continue to meet the Department's qualification and certification requirements. Provides that the Department shall require the entity to be liable for all costs related to the review, certification, and audit of the courses.

1    AN ACT concerning transportation.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Cycle Rider Safety Training Act is amended
5by adding Section 4.01 as follows:
 
6    (625 ILCS 35/4.01 new)
7    Sec. 4.01. Motorcycle safety education offered by private
8entities. The Department shall by rule provide for the
9certification of an entity not described in Section 4 of this
10Act that offers private motorcycle skills education programs to
11include courses meeting the educational standards under
12Section 4 of this Act in the programs offered by the entity.
13The Department shall conduct periodic audits of an entity
14offering the courses to ensure that the courses continue to
15meet the Department's qualification and certification
16requirements. The Department shall require the entity to be
17liable for all costs related to the review, certification, and
18audit of the courses offered by the entity.
