SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

40 ILCS 5/2-101.1 new

Amends the General Assembly Article of the Illinois Pension Code. Provides that no person first elected or appointed to the General Assembly on or after November 6, 2018 shall be eligible to become a participant in the General Assembly Retirement System.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Illinois Pension Code is amended by adding Section 2-101.1 as follows:

(40 ILCS 5/2-101.1 new)

Sec. 2-101.1. Termination of eligibility for members of the General Assembly. Notwithstanding any other law, no person first elected or appointed to the General Assembly on or after November 6, 2018 shall be eligible to become a participant in the System.
