SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Oliver "Ollie" Albert Schuh, who passed away on August 31, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Oliver Schuh was born on January 29, 1924 in St. Louis, Missouri and grew up in Dogtown; his parents were Robert and May (nee Schottell) Schuh; and

WHEREAS, Oliver Schuh enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps in 1942; he served as an armorer for B-26 Marauders in the 397th Bomber Group of the 9th Army Air Corps in the European Theatre; he shared many stories through the years about his life in the Army and was a proud Marauder Man; and

WHEREAS, Oliver Schuh retired from Union Electric in 1987 after 35 years of dedicated service; he was an active member of IBEW Union Local 1439 and served as shop steward and on the executive board for many years; and

WHEREAS, Oliver Schuh and his wife were members of St. Catherine Laboure Parish in Cahokia before moving to Edwardsville and joining St. Boniface Parish; he was also a 67-year member of the St. Frances de Sales Benevolent Society; and

WHEREAS, Oliver Schuh enjoyed politics, gardening, forestry, reading, education, and spending time outdoors; he loved St. Louis and could often be found at Shaw's Gardens, Forest Park, the Art Museum, or Busch Stadium; he also enjoyed spending time at the Fairmont Horse track and traveling extensively with his wife throughout the United States and Canada, mostly by train; and

WHEREAS, Oliver Schuh was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Eleanor; and

WHEREAS, Oliver Schuh is survived by 8 children, Janet (Greg) Corcoran, Bob (Mary Pearson) Schuh, Rick (Alice Carroll) Schuh, Tom (Lynda) Schuh, Mary Schuh, John (Celia Boyne-Schuh) Schuh, Bill (Anne) Schuh, and Jennifer (Mike) Hybl; 22 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, Charles Schottel; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Oliver "Ollie" Albert Schuh; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Oliver Schuh as an expression of our sympathy.
