SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Mary B. "Penny" Bazzell of Alton, who passed away on August 29, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Mary Bazzell was born on July 5, 1949 in Alton; her parents were Leonard J. and Marie M. (nee Blessent) Gross; and

WHEREAS, Mary Bazzell was employed with Norfolk-Southern Railways for 42 years; and

WHEREAS, Mary Bazzell was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton; she also volunteered and did charity work for Catholic Charities and Haskell House; and

WHEREAS, Mary Bazzell enjoyed collecting art by local artists, gardening, reading, traveling to new places, great movies, and spending time with her family and friends; and

WHEREAS, Mary Bazzell is preceded in death by her parents; 3 siblings, Jacelynn Lennette, John Gross, and William J. Gross; a brother-in-law, Charles Bohn; and a daughter, Katie Bazzell; and

WHEREAS, Mary Bazzell is survived by 3 siblings, Kay (Richard) Cary, James L. (Kay) Gross, and Barbara "Bunny" Bohn, and her many nieces, nephews, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of Mary B. "Penny" Bazzell; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Mary Bazzell as an expression of our sympathy.
