SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Zittie Bea Harris of Alton, who passed away on August 23, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Zittie Harris was born in Merigold, Mississippi on April 2, 1943 to Willie and Sarah (nee Ellis) Buchanan; and

WHEREAS, Zittie Harris was employed with Ursuline Convent for 20 years, retiring in May of 2015; and

WHEREAS, Zittie Harris served on the Alton Housing Authority Board as a Commissioner for over 7 years; she was active in the community and was a member of Bright Hope Chapter #85 Order of the Eastern Star; and

WHEREAS, Zittie Harris is survived by her former husband, O.C. Harris; her mother; her children, Betty, Catherine, Daral, Every, Olivia (Victor), Dennis, and Marlon Harris; her 22 grandchildren; her 50 great-grandchildren; her 3 great-great-grandchildren; her 4 sisters, Emma (Herbie) Stanton, Mary Lue Buchanan, Sarah Jean Berry, and Luevenia Buchanan; her brother, Willie Buchanan; and a host of special and dear friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Zittie Bea Harris, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Zittie Harris as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
