SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Florence (nee Hruskovich) Hovanec of Lincolnshire, who passed away on August 16, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Florence Hovanec attended George Rogers Clark High School in Hammond, Indiana and received her degree in education from Indiana University; she lived most of her life in Whiting, Indiana, before moving to Lincolnshire in 2014; and

WHEREAS, Florence Hovanec began teaching in 1941 in Dyer, Indiana, and later, Hammond; she then taught for many years at St. John The Baptist Catholic School in Whiting; she retired in the early 1980s, but continued to teach as a substitute; and

WHEREAS, Florence Hovanec was proud of her Slovak heritage; she was a member of the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association; she was also a member of the Women's Guild of Calumet College of St. Joseph in Whiting; and

WHEREAS, Florence Hovanec was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; and

WHEREAS, Florence Hovanec is survived by her sons, Tom and Tim, and her 5 grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Florence Hovanec, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Florence Hovanec as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
