SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Raymond C. Poczkalski of Sunnyside, who passed away on August 9, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Poczkalski was born in Chicago on October 6, 1928 to Joseph and Helen (nee Piastowski) Poczkalski; he served in the United States Army during the Korean War and married Frances M. Fricano on September 26, 1953; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Poczkalski worked in Chicago in the silkscreening industry for over 30 years; he was then employed for 10 years as the head custodian for the James C. Bush Elementary School in Johnsburg, retiring in 1982; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Poczkalski was an avid golfer and fisherman and enjoyed spending time with his family at their second home in Portage, Wisconsin; he was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnsburg; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Poczkalski was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Frances; his son, Joseph Poczkalski; and 3 sisters and a brother; and

WHEREAS, Raymond Poczkalski is survived by his children, Mary (Roger) Smith, Paul (the late Cynthia) Caruso, Pamela (Michael) LaFontaine, Raymond (Betsy) Poczkalski, and Stephen (Meredith) Poczkalski; his daughter-in-law, Sarah Poczkalski; his grandchildren, Joseph Smith, Alison (Dan) McGinty, Donald Glorch, Bryan (Julia) LaFontaine, Stephanie (Bryon) Pabian, and Daniel, Katie, Joseph, Rachael, Steven, and Julia Poczkalski; and his 6 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Raymond C. Poczkalski, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Raymond Poczkalski as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
