SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Charles Ross Halbrook of Granite City, who passed away on July 29, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Charles Halbrook was born in Granite City on March 14, 1930 to Connie and Thelma (nee Ross) Halbrook; he served in the United States Marines during the Korean War and married Judy Kimura on August 13, 1952 in Kyoto, Japan; and

WHEREAS, Charles Halbrook retired as a supervisor from National Steel after 42 years of dedicated service; and

WHEREAS, Charles Halbrook was a member of Suburban Baptist Church and Elks Lodge 1063; he enjoyed dancing with his wife, especially swing dancing and dancing the jitterbug; he also enjoyed golfing, going to the horse races, and spending time with his family and friends; and

WHEREAS, Charles Halbrook was preceded in death by his wife, Judy; his parents; his granddaughter, Kimura Halbrook; his 2 sisters, Rebecca and Dorothy Halbrook; and his 2 brothers, Don and Bob Halbrook; and

WHEREAS, Charles Halbrook is survived by his children, Becky (Kerry) Johnson, Woody (Rita) Halbrook, and Jerry (Shelly) Halbrook; his grandchildren, Michael (Suzanne), Sara (Michael), Sean, Kyle (Ashley), Kelsey (Eric), Christopher, and Brett; his great-grandchildren, Thomas, Matthew, Mira, Joseph, Evelynn, Andrew, and Cale; his brother, Russell Halbrook; his special friend, Faye Hillman; and his extended family and many friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Charles Ross Halbrook, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Charles Halbrook as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
