SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Mary H. "May" Lockhart, who passed away on July 10, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Mary Lockhart was born on March 24, 1923 in Glasgow, Scotland; she immigrated to Waukegan with her parents in 1930 at the age of 7; and

WHEREAS, Mary Lockhart graduated from Waukegan Township High School in 1942 and attended the Chicago Business School; and

WHEREAS, Mary Lockhart worked for the North Shore Line, Arwill (Orkin) and retired from the Waukegan News-Sun as secretary to the Editor and Managing Editor in 1986; and

WHEREAS, Mary Lockhart was a member of the First United Methodist Church since 1942; she taught Sunday school, participated in the women's bible study, and sang in the church choir and Waukegan Philharmonic Choir under the direction of Leslie Gilkey; and

WHEREAS, Mary Lockhart was proud of her Scottish heritage and made her last trip to Scotland with her mother in 1965; she also enjoyed making her weekly phone calls and remembering her loved ones with birthday, anniversary, and special occasion cards; and

WHEREAS, Mary Lockhart was preceded in death by her parents, Mary C. and John Lockhart; several relatives in Scotland, England, and Canada; and her beloved cat, Princess; and

WHEREAS, Mary Lockhart is survived by her caregivers, Marilynn and Dennis Moisio and Christine and Roger Harrison, and her many friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of Mary H. "May" Lockhart; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Mary Lockhart as an expression of our sympathy.
