SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Mary H. "May" Lockhart, who passed away
4on July 10, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mary Lockhart was born on March 24, 1923 in
6Glasgow, Scotland; she immigrated to Waukegan with her parents
7in 1930 at the age of 7; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Mary Lockhart graduated from Waukegan Township
9High School in 1942 and attended the Chicago Business School;
10and
 
11    WHEREAS, Mary Lockhart worked for the North Shore Line,
12Arwill (Orkin) and retired from the Waukegan News-Sun as
13secretary to the Editor and Managing Editor in 1986; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Mary Lockhart was a member of the First United
15Methodist Church since 1942; she taught Sunday school,
16participated in the women's bible study, and sang in the church
17choir and Waukegan Philharmonic Choir under the direction of
18Leslie Gilkey; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Mary Lockhart was proud of her Scottish heritage
20and made her last trip to Scotland with her mother in 1965; she

1also enjoyed making her weekly phone calls and remembering her
2loved ones with birthday, anniversary, and special occasion
3cards; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Mary Lockhart was preceded in death by her
5parents, Mary C. and John Lockhart; several relatives in
6Scotland, England, and Canada; and her beloved cat, Princess;
7and
 
8    WHEREAS, Mary Lockhart is survived by her caregivers,
9Marilynn and Dennis Moisio and Christine and Roger Harrison,
10and her many friends; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her
13family and friends, mourn the passing of Mary H. "May"
14Lockhart; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Mary Lockhart as an expression of
17our sympathy.
