| | 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | | 3 | | learn of the death of John D. "Jack" Ahern, who passed away on | | 4 | | August 2, 2015; and
| | 5 | | WHEREAS, John Ahern was born on June 10, 1929 in Chicago; | | 6 | | and
| | 7 | | WHEREAS, John Ahern served his country as a member of the | | 8 | | United States Army during the Korean War; and
| | 9 | | WHEREAS, John Ahern retired after many years of service as | | 10 | | Captain of Chicago Fire Department Engine 28; he also served as | | 11 | | Deputy State Fire Marshal; and
| | 12 | | WHEREAS, John Ahern was preceded in death by his parents, | | 13 | | CFD Battalion Chief Daniel and Nora (nee Murphy) Ahern; a son, | | 14 | | Michael (Susan) Ahern; and 5 sisters, Peg Ahern, Mary | | 15 | | McDermott, Norene "Tabby" Pohl, Kate Gourley, and Betty | | 16 | | Coleman; and
| | 17 | | WHEREAS, John Ahern is survived by his loving wife, Linda | | 18 | | (nee Allegretti) Ahern; 6 children, Mary (Jim) Klasen, Daniel | | 19 | | (Terry) Ahern, Tom (Julie) Ahern, Ellen Ahern, Peg (Bob) | | 20 | | Frazier, and Patrick Ahern, CFD; 3 step-children, Deana Regan, |
