SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Donna V. Mitchell of McHenry, who passed away on July 14, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Donna Mitchell was born in Elkhart, Indiana on February 20, 1933 to Alexander and Veronica (nee Galarowicz) MacLean and was raised in Dover, Ohio and later Chicago; she married William James Mitchell, Jr. in 1951 and they settled in Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Donna Mitchell and her husband moved to Sunnyside in 1971, where she worked as a full-time school bus driver for Districts 15 and 156 in McHenry; she then entered the law enforcement field and served as the Village of Sunnyside Police Chief for 8 years; after her stint in law enforcement, she returned to the school district as a bus driver, where she enjoyed a career totaling over 30 years of service; and

WHEREAS, Donna Mitchell enjoyed playing bingo, doing pencil drawings, and most of all, being a doting grandmother and great-grandmother; and

WHEREAS, Donna Mitchell was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William James Mitchell, Jr.; her twin brother, Donald; her other brothers, Earl, James, Peter, Frank, and Gerald MacLean; and her sisters, June Viverito, Loretta Anderson, and Veronica Forstrom; and

WHEREAS, Donna Mitchell is survived by her 5 children, Donna "Cathie" (Arthur) Keefer, Rikki (Lisa) Mitchell, Karen (James) Walker, William (Mandy) Mitchell, and Steven (Carol) Kohon; her 18 grandchildren, Vern Keefer, Tim (Kim) Keefer, Tom (Mandy) Keefer, Michelle (Darren Culvey) Lender, Tammy (Ken) Peltier, Jennifer (Randall) Busack, Melisa Fenske, Angie (Tani) Ojeda, Jacquelinn (Frank Visconti) Mitchell, Yavon Walker, Jimi Walker, William Mitchell, IV, Alexander Mitchell, Alexis Mitchell, Jessica Mitchell, and Riley Mitchell; and many great-grandchildren who called her "GG"; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Donna V. Mitchell, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Donna Mitchell as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
