SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Michael L. "Mike" Kiger of Carrollton,
4who passed away on June 22, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mike Kiger was born in Springfield, Ohio on May
627, 1952 to Richard L. and Ruth P. (nee Miller) Kiger; he
7graduated from Mattoon High School and attended Eastern
8Illinois University; he married Rhonda Price on June 3, 1973
9and they settled in Carrollton; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Mike Kiger became involved in law enforcement and
11worked as an officer for the Carrollton City Police Department
12from 1981 until his retirement in 2009, serving 20 of those
13years as Chief of Police; he became one of the first D.A.R.E.
14officers in the State of Illinois and brought the program to
15Greene County; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Mike Kiger was member of the Greene County Board,
17served on the school board, and was a member of the Carrollton
18Masonic Lodge; he volunteered for numerous other boards and
19organizations, especially those involving kids; he was a
20football and baseball official for many years; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Mike Kiger was preceded in death by his parents,

1and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, John A. and Norma M.
2Price; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Mike Kiger is survived by his wife, Rhonda; his
4children, John (Melissa) Kiger, Leah Kiger, and Jarod (Erin)
5Kiger; his grandchildren, Emma, Laila, Lily, King, Grant, and
6Reagan; his sisters, Michelle Skinlo and Victoria Reible; and
7his brother-in-law, Mike (Debbie) Price; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Michael L. "Mike" Kiger, and extend our sincere condolences to
11his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Mike Kiger as an expression of our
15deepest sympathy.
