SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Joyce Lee Morgan of Alton, who passed
4away on June 15, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Joyce Morgan was born in Alton on May 24, 1938 to
6Willie and Pattie Mae (nee Hutchins) Herron; she graduated from
7Alton Senior High School in 1956 and married Samuel Morgan, Sr.
8in 1957; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Joyce Morgan was employed at Christian North
10Hospital for several years; she later became a homemaker and
11raised her children; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Joyce Morgan joined Deliverance Temple Church of
13God and Christ in 1985 and was a faithful and active member of
14the church; she enjoyed being around family and friends; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Joyce Morgan was preceded in death by her husband
16of 54 years, Samuel; her parents; her 3 brothers, William
17Herron, Carl Herron, and Maurice Herron; and her 3 sisters,
18Ethel "Pookie" McLemore, Sharon "Shag" Terry, and Darlene
19Robinson; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Joyce Morgan is survived by her 8 children,

1Salathiel (Joni) Morgan, Stanley (Cherly) Morgan, Sonia
2(Kenneth) Womack, Shelton Morgan, Simeon (Loretta) Morgan,
3Samuel Morgan, Jr., Stephen Morgan, and Sharon (Andrew) Parker;
4her 35 grandchildren; her 55 great-grandchildren; her
5great-great-grandchild; her 4 siblings, Brenda (Larry) Beard,
6Gloria Winn, Melva Gordon, and Christopher (Leslie) Robinson;
7her 2 sisters-in-law, Marie Herron and Zora Herron; her aunt,
8Tempie White; and a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins,
9and friends; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Joyce Lee Morgan, and extend our sincere condolences to her
13family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Joyce Morgan as an expression of our
17deepest sympathy.
