SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Joyce Lee Morgan of Alton, who passed away on June 15, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Joyce Morgan was born in Alton on May 24, 1938 to Willie and Pattie Mae (nee Hutchins) Herron; she graduated from Alton Senior High School in 1956 and married Samuel Morgan, Sr. in 1957; and

WHEREAS, Joyce Morgan was employed at Christian North Hospital for several years; she later became a homemaker and raised her children; and

WHEREAS, Joyce Morgan joined Deliverance Temple Church of God and Christ in 1985 and was a faithful and active member of the church; she enjoyed being around family and friends; and

WHEREAS, Joyce Morgan was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Samuel; her parents; her 3 brothers, William Herron, Carl Herron, and Maurice Herron; and her 3 sisters, Ethel "Pookie" McLemore, Sharon "Shag" Terry, and Darlene Robinson; and

WHEREAS, Joyce Morgan is survived by her 8 children, Salathiel (Joni) Morgan, Stanley (Cherly) Morgan, Sonia (Kenneth) Womack, Shelton Morgan, Simeon (Loretta) Morgan, Samuel Morgan, Jr., Stephen Morgan, and Sharon (Andrew) Parker; her 35 grandchildren; her 55 great-grandchildren; her great-great-grandchild; her 4 siblings, Brenda (Larry) Beard, Gloria Winn, Melva Gordon, and Christopher (Leslie) Robinson; her 2 sisters-in-law, Marie Herron and Zora Herron; her aunt, Tempie White; and a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Joyce Lee Morgan, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Joyce Morgan as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
