SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Jess O. Woodman, Jr. of Godfrey, who
4passed away on June 6, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jess Woodman, Jr. was born in Cleveland, Ohio on
6October 24, 1932 to Jess O., Sr. and Irene Marie (nee Deorio)
7Woodman; he served in the United States Navy during the Korean
8War; he was married to the former Peggy Means for 26 years
9until her passing; he married Amy Ensley on June 9, 1978; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Following in his father's footsteps, Jess
11Woodman, Jr. became a collision repair specialist, working at
12area dealerships and then opening Custom Auto Body and later,
13Woodman Auto Body in Alton; after retiring from the collision
14business, he worked as a claims adjuster with Sentry Insurance
15Company; after retirement, he managed the Bethalto Wash-N-Go
16for 11 years; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Jess Woodman, Jr. was a member of Calvary Baptist
18Church in Alton; as a young man, he was a boxer; he drag raced
19throughout the Midwest and enjoyed street rodding and
20membership in the FBI (Fat Boys of IL); and
 
21    WHEREAS, Jess Woodman, Jr. was preceded in death by his

1first wife, Peggy; his 2 brothers, Paul and Bill Woodman; and
2his son, Danny L. Woodman; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Jess Woodman, Jr. is survived by his wife, Amy;
4his children, Jess H. Woodman (Ginger), Stacie R. Woodman,
5Darrell R. Woodman (Linnette), and Theresa Taylor (David); his
6grandchildren, Chad (Meredith), Ryan (Samantha), Luke, and
7Emma Woodman, Justin Skurat, and Bethany and Crystal Woodman;
8his great-grandchildren, Clay, Elle, Owen, Lilly, and Kailey
9Woodman, Makaylah Harrington, and Silas Skurat; and his 3
10sisters, Shirley Lyerla, Irene Besaw, and Dina Reed; therefore,
11be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Jess O. Woodman, Jr., and extend our sincere condolences to his
15family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
16further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Jess Woodman, Jr. as an expression
19of our deepest sympathy.
