SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Louis Gregory "Lou" Sabo of Godfrey, who passed away on May 25, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Lou Sabo was born in East St. Louis on November 27, 1928 to Louis J. and Elizabeth (nee Oros) Sabo; he graduated from Marquette Catholic High School and Quincy University; he served in the United States Navy and married Joyce Bowman on August 1, 1953 at St. Patrick's Church in Alton; and

WHEREAS, Lou Sabo was a lifetime member and Past Commander of the American Legion Post #126 in Alton and a member of the Knights of Columbus in Alton; he was involved in youth athletics, having served as a coach, scorekeeper, and in many other roles; he also enjoyed being a member of the Antique Car Club of Alton; and

WHEREAS, Lou Sabo was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Irene Springman; and

WHEREAS, Lou Sabo is survived by his wife, Joyce; his 4 children and their spouses, Lynn Sabo, Gregory and Theresa Sabo, Mark and Anne Sabo, and Jay and June Sabo; his 4 grandchildren and their spouses, Meggan and Michael Schoen, Matthew Sabo, Gwen Sabo, and Ethan Sabo; his step-grandchildren, Haili Culp and Alicia and Jason Simmons; his great-grandchild, Sean Prather; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Louis Gregory "Lou" Sabo, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Lou Sabo as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
