SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Helen A. Lakota of Joliet, who passed away on December 16, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Helen Lakota was born in Joliet on November 12, 1917 to Joseph and Anna Trizna; and

WHEREAS, Helen Lakota supported her husband in his business at Lakota Jewelers for 35 years; she was also a Deputy for the Will County Sheriff's Department in the 1960s; and

WHEREAS, Helen Lakota enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, and crafts; she was a member of the choir, the Altar and Rosary Society, Medical Mission, Joanites, and the Mothers Club at St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church; she was also a member of the Seniors Club of Joliet, an auxiliary at the Northwest Recreation Club, and an auxiliary at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home; and

WHEREAS, Helen Lakota was preceded in death by her husband, Louis J. Lakota; her parents; her daughter, Mary; her brothers, Joseph (Cecilia) Trizna, Anton (Josephine) Trizna, Rudolph (Helen)(Rose) Trizna, and Raymond Trizna; her granddaughter, Cheryl Thomas; and her great-granddaughter, Hannah Ludwick; and

WHEREAS, Helen Lakota is survived by her 4 children, Lou (Mary Fran), Jerry (Marge), Barb (Mike) Ludwick, and Karen (Paul) McDermott; her 16 grandchildren, Lou (Kris) Lakota, Maureen (the late Bill) Krok, Mike Lakota, Tony (Jody) Lakota, Tim Lakota, Kris (Clark) Garland, Greg (Bobbi) Lakota, Bill (Lori) Lakota, Karole (Erik) Treese, Laurie (Edward) Gudas, Christopher (Tammy) Ludwick, Brian Ludwick, Daniel Ludwick, Will (Johanna) Thomas, Jim McDermott, and Colleen McDermott; her 23 great-grandchildren; her great-great-grandchild; her sister-in-law, Dorothy (the late Raymond) Trizna; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Helen A. Lakota, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Helen Lakota as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
