SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Esther C. Day, who passed away on May 1, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Esther Day was born on March 30, 1920 in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico; she previously lived in North Chicago before living in Libertyville for the past 35 years; and

WHEREAS, Esther Day was a graduate of the University of Puerto Rico; she served as a teacher in the North Chicago School District and was a very proficient bilingual teacher; and

WHEREAS, Esther Day was preceded in death by her first husband, Harold W. Miller, and her second husband, Dr. Lawrence C. Day; and

WHEREAS, Esther Day is survived by 4 children, Marylyn Miller (Robert Clark), Harold Miller Calvente, Marla Miller (the late Miguel Angel Pascual) and Lisa (David) Nyquist; 2 grandchildren, Felicita (Vincent) Laoang and Joseph (Jing Huei) Calvente; 3 great-grandchildren, Caleb, David, and Matthew; and a sister, Gloria (Mario) Magat; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of Esther C. Day; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Esther Day as an expression of our sympathy.
