SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Paul Joseph Moroney of Oak Park, who passed away on March 7, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Paul Moroney was born on April 12, 1939 to Mary and Emmett Moroney and raised in the Austin neighborhood of Chicago; he attended St. Angela School with his siblings, Emmett, Rita, Fran, and Mary Lou; he then attended St. Ignatius High School and graduated from Xavier University in Cincinnati; he served as a Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps and was stationed in the Caribbean during the Cuban Missile Crisis; he married Kathleen Sheridan in December of 1962; and

WHEREAS, The Moroneys returned to the Austin community in Chicago; they then lived in Oak Park, Elmhurst, and Oak Park again; while their own family grew, the Moroneys' door was never locked, and they were known to share their home with those in need; Paul Moroney was a free-thinker, an active member of the community, and a raconteur, with a great sense of humor, appreciated by all those who knew him; and

WHEREAS, Paul Moroney was preceded in death by his wife, Kathy and his companion, the Honorable Judge Donna Cervini; and

WHEREAS, Paul Moroney is survived by his children, Colleen Maia, Patrick (Miriam Rosa), Sheila (Ken Javor), Katie (Al Wolski), Michael (Elizabeth Sheehan), and Daniel (Amy McAuley); his grandchildren, Kenneth, Kathleen, Luke, Daniel and Matthew Javor, Brigette (Dan Neubauer), Maria Maia, Maggie and Eleanor Wolski, Megan, Anne, Liam and Clare Moroney, and Ryan and Grace Moroney; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Paul Joseph Moroney, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Paul Moroney as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
